It depends on the sub-species, biakis cost a lot more since they are especially rare, Vosmaerie cost more too, along with Grands
The cheapest are probably red-sideds and solomon islands
the average is anywhere from $ 800 and up

They cost a lot more though when you get into vet bills, cages, toys, food, and playstands. They also have a specialized diet.

I heard only some sub species of female Eclectus can have yellow in the tail, and the aviary store told us it was from the Solomon Islands…
Our Eclectus beauty has yellow and orange in her tail, about 25% of the end of the tail, closer into her body is purple-blue she does have a very very very thin blue circle around the eye, i had to look close as heck to see it, and it isn’t a full circle on either side, but the color is there.

Molting,nervous, poor diet, mites, not enough light? location of damaged feathers, I would love to give you an accurate answer but it is very difficult with the information provided.

My family and i have been wanting a bird of some sort for a while now, and ive been sorta researching it and everything. I’ve came a across a bunch of birds i like, but i love birds whom you can teach to talk.
Such as the Eclectus Roratus Parrot. I’m also big into the beautiful colors of birds.
I’ve never owned a bird before.
I have 3 dogs (that are only allowed downstairs, bird would mosty likly be keep upstairs)
I have a fish, and a baby ball python.
The ball python is always keep in a cage and locked after being handled. the bird would most likly be keep in another room as the snake if i got one.
things i want in a bird-
Pretty Colors
Able to be tought to talk
Friendly
Fun to play with
What bird would suit me the best?

I’m sorry, but even with a python in a cage you shouldn’t keep them in the same house(and i don’t mean the same cage). Pythons can escape from their cages(mine did two times, and it did it by breaking the tank open) and when they do, they will kill anything in sight. It has way to many risks to it to keep both a bird and a snake in the same home.

Look into investing a lot of time and money if you are planning on getting one of these birds. I would suggest reading on the diet you need to provide as they need a different diet than most parrots. It can be quite pricey. Also they are not birds that can be happy staying in a cage. They need hours of your undivided attention to be completely happy. As for the stuff you would need: proper diet, large cage which can be quite costly, plenty of toys that will most likely have to be replaced monthly, bedding, a good avian vet, and lots of attention. Also be prepared to never use teflon cookware again, same with air freshener, perfumes, aerosols, cigarette smoke, and PLENTY of other things. Even things like coffee makers and hair dryers contain PTFE which can be harmful.

That would be a rare find indeed. Most birds alone go for no less than $ 500, but you can try petfinder.com.
A decent sized cage would be no less than $ 200 in most cases. Try craigslist, I got a 5ftx3ftx2ft for $ 200, delivered.

Im buying an eclectus parrot i would like a female but the breader is telling me that males make better pets and are least likely to turn on you, is he saying this because he has 2 males avalible and has no females?? or is there truth to this?? also id like the bird before 10 weeks to hand feed and to form a stronger bond with me does it matter if the bird is 10 weeks old? will it still bond the same as one that you have hand feed from 6 weeks??

I got all my birds at 10 weeks or older. The breeder actually hand raised them. Regardless of if you do it or the breeder does it hand raised is hand raised and you can form a strong bond with the bird. As for the gender Ive got both males and females I know with females you have to worry about if they will become egg bound. Both genders make great pets. My cockatoo is male, I have male &female conures, paroletts and parakeets (10 birds total) and only ONE of my birds is a b*itch. And it was not sexed so cant tell you the gender, the gender didnt matter to me.
I’d also like to add even if the bird isnt hand raised/hand fed that if you spend time with it and work with it they can become this way.

I have a pair of 9 yr old Eclectus Parrots they are in good health and on a very good diet.
My only question is are they too old to breed.

i have hand raised electus before.
warn you these birds are very prone to tape worm so have that checked thoroughly and dewormed against it, esp in the first few months of babies life.
as for breeding, 9 should not be too old as far as i know as the live decades – they only mature and come into their prime i believe from 3-5 onwards, but i stand to be corrected. diet is vital to them. calcium, greens, fruits, PROTEINS/WORMS/BUGS. so much depends on the birds and how they were looked after and handled before coming into your care too.
guessing you know the obvious that purple/red is female, and green/red is male.
