i had a female, i hand fed her, everything was great until we got to the stage where she only wanted to feed herself yet she wasn't eating enough, she became real independent like a teenager, when i let her eat at the table with us she finally settled down, she was a great pet until i went back to work. she was not happy, i finally sold her to a friend that was retired and could spend a lot of time with her and keep her loose, i still miss her

I just had to hop in and say how envious I am of you! We have too many birds to get another one, and they're so beautiful and interesting.

The ones I've met got a little raucous, but definitely no worse than an Amazon, that's for sure. They were a little nervous -- say, in the Pionus range. Three of the five were pluckers, but they were out of 4 bonded birds, so you know they probably did it to each other. Hooray. Scritch her adorable red neck for me?

I had one before, but unfortunately we lost her by accident. We now have a male SI Eclectus. They are wonderful birds. If you treat them nicely, they will do the same. Just watch out for the terrible 2s when they start growing up.
