We have a female eclectus and she has been doing the same thing, growling and biting. I’m trying to get her to stop by showing her its not a game and its not nice, but she is testing me to see if she can be the one in control. I’m researching for some more tips on getting her to stop. She doesn’t do this all the time, she has cranky moments, and other times she is sweet and cuddly. Right now she is molting and I think her new feathers coming in are irritating her and making her cranky.

All eccy’s will do that when they are that young. He will learn how hard he can ‘bite’ without hurting soon enough. Dont forget eccy’s don’t have hands so they use their beaks a lot for things that we use our hands.
The toe tapping will have something to do with his diet. Google it for more info. Make sure he gets lots of different veggies and only a few seeds and good quality pellets.
My Eccy Harley is on here as well. He’s got some funny videos.

He’s gorgeous. My Sunshine (Grand Eclectus) has his moments and used to growl if my hand went too close to his face when he was eating food in his cage. I stopped that by feeding him his favorite treats by hand in the evening on my knee. Pomegranate seeds and sunflower seeds. He then settles down to nestle under my chin and dozes off. Now he lets me cuddle him and stroke him as much as I like.
