Can you house a male and female eclectus parrot together?

Hi, lately I’ve been looking into different bird species, and I’m simply awestruck by the beauty, intelligence, demeanor and striking sexual dimorphism of the eclectus parrot. I will not be purchasing these beauties any time soon however, as I think it would be a terrible idea for a bird-keeping novice to own one.
Until I can be fortunate enough to have them, I’ve been satisfying myself by reading about them. One day I would like to own one of each gender, as I cannot bring myself to decide between the two.
However, since I am new to the wonderful world of birds, I do have a few questions.

Everything that I’ve read about breeding them mentions a nest box. I understand that the nest box is necessary for warmth and privacy. However, I couldn’t find any articles that mentioned simply male and female cage mates.
What would happen if you were to not provide them with a nest box? Would the eggs end up being infertile?
I know that females can lay infertile eggs without a male present, but that is the extent of my breeding knowledge.
Is breeding inevitable?
Is it possible to house them together without breeding if I don’t provide them with a nest box or nest box like place?
Is there a specific “mating season” that captive birds follow?
Is it possible for a bird to get neutered/spayed?
Do birds respond well to anesthesia?
Are my hopes of housing the two birds together useless?
If I were to get two cages, could I place them near each other?
Would the parrots be lonely if they each had their own cage?
Would I have to get two males and two females, or ultimately decide between the two genders if that was the case?

Answers to any of these questions would be very much appreciated.

No you can not get a bird neutered they can’t do that to birds so if you have them together they will mate.Even without the box they will lay eggs and try to sit on them .

Is it normal that my male eclectus parrot is horny? lol, from time to time you can catch him masturbating on his perch in his cage and if you’re not careful he’ll get fresh with you! It’s not often but i’m assuming its normal?
