Ruby a Soloman Island Eclectus Parrot loves to imitate the phone ringing, talk and whistle when no one is watching. Her vet nicknamed her “The Closet Talker”.

OMG that is so great! I have a female SI Eclectus who’s almost 1, she tries with her “HUH” when I work with her, but If I go in anther room, she’s making sounds and talking… of course now on her perch in front of me she said HELLO just to make sure I’m paying attention. =)

I love how precisely she remembers all the phone sounds. The ring is followed by the beep of the talk button, and then the actual talking starts. Another time, she’s punching in a random number on the key pad, although she only punches in 5 digits instead of 7 or 10. “Hi baby girl!” :)

I’ve seen parrots “answer” an imaginary ringing cell phone before. But this one also presses the “to talk” button and dials calls as well! :)

We have a male Eclectus named Mojito. He did the same for a long time, but he’s discovered that he likes to see people react to what he says. Now he’s a total show off. Peek-a-boo and tickle-tickle-tickle are 2 of his favorites.

She is Beautiful. My Macaw and Indian Ring neck both loved hearing her talk. My Macaw was saying hello right back to her. When she would do the ring tone my Indian ring neck would make sounds. My Indian ring neck is the same way she only talks when your not looking at her. If you turn your head towards her she will stop right away. Thank you for sharing.
